Painted Angles & Chevron Stripes In Grand Rapids, Michigan...

I felt issuing the above warning is the only responsible thing for me to do.  The young woman I am about to introduce you to is fairly new to the furniture flippin' biz.  It is our duty as her peers to help her out, encourage her, become her fans, and take her under our wing. Those aren't orders because once you meet her you are going to want to do those things anyway.

Meet Angie from Painted Angles.   Angie recently completed a really hip re-do on a seen better days MCM dresser that she had purchased on Craigslist.

Here's what she started with...

In that state it looks kind of like a file cabinet.  But, it's not.  It was apparent to Angie that this cabinet at one time had possessed some feet but they were no longer attached or anywhere to be found.  So, Angie picked up some new ones at Lowe's and they would soon be put in their place.

Before that happened, she got busy on the dresser makeover.  I'm not going to tell you the step-by-step here, you can read all about that at Painted Angles.  Let's just say the title of this post kinda sorta gives it away.

I will show you the after picture though, you're gonna love it!

Tada...

Pretty cool!  The feet look like they were made for that piece and I love the color combo!  If I had attempted Chevron stripes on something, it would have looked like a four year old had done it.  Angie nailed it though!

Now, here's how we can all support our "Flippin' Sister".  Visit her blog, Painted Angles, go "like" her Facebook page, and finally, Angie has entered a contest being run by On-The-Town Magazine.  That is a local  Grand Rapids, Michigan based magazine and if she wins she will receive gift cards to local consignment shops.  How awesome is that?

Here's where YOU come in...you have to go to her entry and "like" the photo she submitted.  You can't "like" the post, or the album, you have to "like" the actual photo.  To do that, and to hopefully help a fellow flipper rescue an old piece of furniture, go HERE AND LIKE THE PHOTO.

Think of all the good juju you'll get in return by starting the weekend out like that!  So, go!  Get a likin'!

Thanks Angie for sharing your awesome furniture flip with us!  Keep us updated on your contest!

Out Of It's Habitat And Into A Home...

There is a Mr. & Mrs. in the Sunshine state that tackle furniture flippin' together.  They tag-team it.  (See, Triple H, there are others out there just like us!) They find old furniture and make it new again.  They are Ilene and Steven of Treasures Rediscovered.

Not too long ago they rescued this old French Provincial dresser from a local Habitat For Humanity Restore...

It's pretty but dated.  They decided to paint it with Annie Sloan Duck Egg and Old White.  They distressed the edges to give it a worn look.  The top they left natural and the original hardware they kept, too.  They finished the piece with Annie Sloan clear wax.  It quickly became one of their favorite flips upon completion.

Let's take a gander at it, shall we?

Isn't she a beauty now?  We're not the only ones that think she is because she was quickly bought up!  Now she has her own home with a new family.  It's another happy ending for an old piece of furniture!

You can check out more of their work at their Treasures Rediscovered Facebook page.  If you live in Florida, you can see their stuff in person at Adjectives Market, Altamonte Springs, Fl and Renningers Antique Market, Mount Dora, FL.

Thanks Ilene & Steven for sharing your very glam furniture flip with us!

Don't Fret The Small Stuff, There's A Curio For That!

Imagine this...you have a stressful job and you work hard at it all week.  When your downtime comes around you need a BIG stress reliever.  What do you do?  If you are today's featured flipper you make over furniture.  (That didn't really surprise you, did it?  After all, this IS a furniture flippin' blog.)

Meet Nancy of Romantic Chic Antique Style And Decor.  She is today's flipper.  Nancy has a slightly warped sense of humor.  She thinks I'm funny.  So, it was only natural that she was drawn to this slightly warped curio cabinet.

Not only was the door not square because of the warping, but there was also a missing shelf.  Nancy was going to address the missing shelf but instead went a different way.  She sought to create a romantic look, something soft, yet contemporary and a wee bit shabby.  Plus, the simple but defined details on the cabinet needed to stand out and command attention.  Nancy fixed the door and painted this piece in soft complimentary colors.  She also did something else to it, too.

I'm going to show you the after picture and see how observant you are.

Did you see what she did?  She reversed the fretwork.  Why?  She noticed the fretwork on top was obstructing the viewing of anything placed inside on the single shelf, that's why!  Pretty clever, don't you think?

This piece sold within three days.  Yes, 3 DAYS!!  Nice!  If you live in the St. Petersburg, Florida area, then YOU are in luck, because Nancy sells her Romantic Chic Antique Style And Decor at an antique mall there.

Thank you Nancy for sharing your superb furniture flip with us!  I'll see YOU at the swamp buggy races!

Always, Four Hours, And No Matter What...

...okay, so the saying isn't exactly like that.  I changed out the "forever" and made it "four hours" because THAT is EXACTLY how long it took to SELL today's featured flip!

Yep!  FOUR HOURS!!  How's THAT for a turnaround?

Meet Melodie from thReaDs~n~StUfF.  She was the Good Samaritan who rescued this guy...

Check him out!  He had been sitting alone and neglected in a garage for three long years before Melodie came to his aid.  He was in pieces, his drawer fronts and decorative trim were broken off, he was a mess.  He was one of those pieces that you JUST KNOW had he not been saved by a flipper, he'd have ended up in the dump or on the burn pile.

He was brought home, cleaned up, stripped, and repaired.  She had no choice but to paint him and encountered some problems with bleed-thru with the process.  Luckily for him and Melodie, she had some great painting friends who offered her advice and she took it.

Melodie painted the top black, stenciled it in cream, painted the rest cream and distressed it a bit.  She kept the original hardware but sprayed it with oil rubbed bronze.

Are you ready for the reveal?

Isn't he gorgeous?  Impressive transformation!  Melodie's hard work paid off and this guy has a long and happy life ahead of him.

To see more of Melodie's work head over to her thReaDs~n~StUfF Facebook page, give her a like and tell her you saw her furniture flip!

Thanks Melodie for sharing your incredible furniture flip with us and for saving another piece of furniture from the burn pile!

One More Round...

Today's sofa table transformation was inspired by all of us!  That's what Richard from The Carpenter's Shop San Miguel told me when he submitted today's featured furniture flip.

It's Monday, it's raining and I'm going to turn over today's post to Richard and let him fill you in on all the details...

~ ~ ~

As solid as a rock was this blue Formica sofa type table.  Painted over with white house paint was this discarded, dirty and scraped up heavy weight.  He had been hanging out at the shop up side down making himself useful as a place to stack scrap wood for kindling.

Seeing through all the ugly, I knew with a good work out on the bench there was another prize fight in him. Being a clad veneer, heart and soul .  A clad veneer he'd have to remain, but with just a bit more character. The kind you get from  Vintage Salvage old growth lumber.

Now isn't he a knockout?  Thanks to all and Stephanie.  This flip is now back in the ring.

If by chance this type of over lay veneer clad or whatever you may call it is something that would interest any of you furniture flippers, this table took 13 sq. ft. of 1/4" veneer material that I prepare here at The Carpenter's Shop San Miguel.  That would all fit into a 12x12x4 inch box that'll ship anywhere.  Cost $80 plus shipping.  Gee for that matter the prepared materials for the top would ship too.   Cost $5.25 SQFT .  To see other uses for block code materials visit my blog The Carpenter's Shop San Miguel.

~ ~ ~

Stephanie here again!  I love that reclaimed lumber was used on this piece.  Check out more wonderful uses for reclaimed lumber on Richard's blog The Carpenter's Shop San Miguel and visit his Facebook page, too!

Thanks Richard for letting us feature your awesome furniture flip!

Turning The Forgotten Into The Unforgettable...

...that is the dream that today's flipper had in mind when turning her hobby into a business.  I think I'll let Amy from High Style ReStyle explain it to you in her own words.  She is today's feature!

~ ~ ~
"When I turned my hobby into a business, my dream was to take hand-me-down furniture that had been politely stowed away in attics, garages and storage facilities and turn those forgotten, sentimental pieces into sensational and unforgettable.

After doing MANY pieces for others and myself, I finally got the opportunity to do just that.  A client had been storing her grandmother's dresser set on the premise of giving to her son one day.  She had painted them herself but the finish was extremely gritty (no idea what kind of paint she used) and in desperate need of a  ReStyle.

The dressers were covered in veneer and the 60 year old glue was disintegrating.   Much of the veneer was chipped off and what remained intact was peeling badly.  The only option was to strip the veneer and find out what was underneath.   I can thank my handsome, handy hubby aka Triple Threat who had his work cut out for him and removed every bit of veneer on both dressers.  A few bloody knuckles along the way but I digress.

To our surprise, it wasn't solid pieces of wood underneath all that mess but strips of wood glued together that kind of resembled a layer cake.  There was no rhyme or reason with the layers either.  Some were all the same color, others weren't - alternating between dark and light. Primer became my best friend in this project and I ended up using about 4-5 coats on every drawer, sanding in between each coat.

Once the primer was dried,  I got to start on the fun part. The client wanted an industrial look so we decided to go with grey.  I chose Annie Sloan's Paris Grey and put my paintbrush to work.  After the paint dried, I didn't think it looked quite as industrial as I wanted so I applied a stain 'wash' with Verathane Weathered Gray.  The resulting color was perfection - it almost had a steely silver look.  Next, I used a clear wax and a subtle distressing on the wooden appliques.  Last step was to apply two coats of poly and once dry put the hardware back on.

Here's the reveal...

Of all the projects I've completed so far, these dressers were my biggest challenge and greatest ReStyle.

My client was ecstatic with the results and I know Granny would be proud of my work.  I'm thrilled my client's family gets to enjoy them for years to come."

~ ~ ~

Stephanie again!  I love turning the wheel over to someone else every now & then and letting them drive.

Thanks Amy for letting us feature your amazing furniture flip.

I Don't Know What YOU Call It...

...but I call it BEAUTIFUL!

Today's featured furniture flip is a, well, I don't quite know what to call it.  Don't think TOO BADLY of me, because the very talented Sherri from {Simply Paint It} didn't know what to call it either!  (So there!)  Other than gone because it sold practically IMMEDIATELY once it was completed.

What is it?  Here's the before...

Sherri said it was so ugly she questioned why she even rescued it.  Always up for a challenge, she tackled this project head-on.   She painted it with CeCe Caldwell clay & chalk based paints. The first layer was done in Vermont Slate, followed by Smokey Mountain for the final top coat.  She then distressed and waxed it.  Finally, the two table tops were done with a satin finish for a more durable finish.  The glass was replaced with chicken wire and the piece was transformed.

Once completed this piece quickly became Sherri's FAVORITE flip and I can see why!

Check out this former ugly duckling now...

She's quite the beauty now and she proudly spends her days in her new owner's dining room.

That just further reinforces what all of us furniture flippers know, even the ugly ones can turn pretty darn fantastic given the right makeover by the right person.

Sherri just isn't a furniture flipper she is also a CeCe Caldwell retailer.  You can visit with Sherri at her Facebook page {Simply Paint It} for more details.

Thanks Sherri for letting us feature your lovely furniture flip!

Fee, Fie, Foe, Fum! I Smell The Paint Of A Wee Little One...

...So, said the giant, all 7 feet of him standing there in his new home.

He could sense her.
He knew she was about.
Where she stood, he could not scout.
But she would appear, he had no doubt.
She was determined, to get the brown out!

Thus begins our tale of little 4 foot 9 and 3/4 inch Kimberly of Pretty 'N Chic Furniture and her 7 foot towering hutch.  Kimberly was given this hutch AND a table for FREE with just one stipulation from the previous owner..."DO NOT TELL ME WHAT YOU SELL THEM FOR!"

Kimberly admits to being intimidated by the sheer size of this piece.  She thought of playing it safe and going with a color that would sell quickly, but instead she threw caution to the wind and went with Annie Sloan's Emperor's Silk and Graphite.

Luckily for Kimberly, the hutch was flawless and the makeover was a smooth one.  She did have to enlist the help of the taller people in her world to look up high and make sure she covered everything.  When it came time to wax this big boy, she had her own handsome handy husband help.  You gotta love a guy willing to help his wife re-do furniture, don't you?  We've met a lot of them here, too!

I'm sorry, Kimberly, I'm picturing you redoing this ginormous piece of furniture and can't help but suggest that before you tackle another flip this tall, that you install a cable and hoist in your home.  You could strap into it, your husband can pull you up high and you can swing back and forth over the furniture, swiping brush strokes of paint as you pass by.  It would further enhance the story telling next time I feature you, too, because then instead of Jack and The Beanstalk, I could channel Tinkerbell.  (I know Kimberly has a GREAT sense of humor and doesn't take offense at my attempts at wit.)

Back to our tale...

Once the brown was completely banished from the Giant's world...he looked like this...

So he stands today.

No longer grouchy, no longer gruff.
No longer brown, she had called his bluff.
Standing so proudly, all dressed in red,
he looked exactly like, she had pictured in her head.

And tho the project is complete,
before we make a hasty retreat,
this hutch is offered to you for sale,
and the one with the money will prevail.

If this is something you'd consider,
go talk to Kimberly at Pretty 'N Chic Furniture to be a bidder.
Though an auction it is not,
an offer proffered means this could be bought.

Thank you Kimberly for letting us feature your superb furniture flip!

Thanks to all of YOU who indulged me as I tried to bust through my writer's block with a little bit of whimsy today.

This Loveseat Didn't Have A Clue...

...what was in store for it.  It had spent it's entire life living by the rules.  With it's upholstery just so.  All pleats and button tufts.  One could almost imagine the sophisticated conversations that took place upon this settee.

The upholstery on it was showing it's age.  It was worn and discolored from use.  It and many other like pieces were handed down from a mother to her daughter.

Now, the daughter has a eye for incorporating fun into her decorating.  She isn't scared at all by bold colors or dramatic design and to achieve the look she wanted, she took this loveseat to her favorite upholsterer, Elly of Elly's Custom Upholstery.

Elly, upon seeing the bold fabric she chose and knowing it would be in a west facing sun room, told her, "Honey, you'll get sun fade fast!".  Undaunted, her customer replied, "That's OK!  I'll just have you do it again!".  Not one to back down from an upholstery job of any kind, Elly set to work.

Once I show you the finished loveseat, I want you to really pause and take it all in.  At first you'll be surprised by the fun daring design, but, once you catch your breath and look at the craftsmanship that went into this recovering, you will be utterly amazed.

Are you ready?  Are you SURE you are ready??

Positive?  Okay, here we go...

REMARKABLE!!!  Look at it!  How in the heck did she do that?  Look at how it lines up!  Elly always laughs it off when someone confesses to being intimidated by upholstering jobs.  Well...ELLY...THIS IS WHY!!  Not everyone can do WORK LIKE THIS.  It's just not a skill this is CRAFTSMANSHIP at it's finest.

Elly's customer has promised her more pieces to recover and we can't wait to see them!

If you would like to see more of Elly's work you can visit her at Elly's Custom Upholstery's Facebook page.  She's located in Florida, so if any of you are resident's of the Sunshine State, well...it looks like you have found your upholsterer!

Thanks Elly for letting us feature this first rate furniture flip!

A Stunning Dresser Revival

One can imagine how beautiful today's featured flip was at the beginning of it's existence.  However, years of use and eventually neglect contributed to the decline of this dresser's once lustrous look.

It sat there patiently waiting for the end to come.  Instead along came Angie from Thrifty RevivalAngie brought it home, determined to revive it.

You know a piece of furniture has had a hard life when it's beaten up so bad that two of the drawers won't even open.  After much work and a lot strength, Angie was able to remove them.  She had her handy man rework the insides of the dresser and added a stronger shelf.  From there, she painted the exterior using Annie Sloan's Emperor's Silk with a dark wax.  The top and insides were painted black and distressed.

This beauty has A LOT of life left in her now.  Ready for the reveal?

She is stunning.

You can visit Angie at Thrifty Revival to see more of her work.  She also has a Thrifty Revival Facebook page.  Let her know you saw her flip!

Thank you Angie at Thrifty Revival for sharing your fabulous furniture flip!

Here Comes The Bride...

...and Groom!

June is upon us.  It's actually almost half over.  Where has the first half of 2013 gone?  We know April showers bring May flowers and that the month of June brings weddings.

Today's furniture flip is very unique and a whole lot of fun!  We are featuring the work of Dee from My Painted Stuff.

Dee spotted two very interesting chairs for sale and thought they would make the perfect item to make over at her upcoming upholstery class.  She kept her eye on them and like a very good furniture flipper, she waited until the price dropped and snatched them up.

Here is what she bought...

Don't you love the whimsical shape of them?  Yes, of course you do.  The fabric?  Nah, not so much, right?

She removed the crushed velvet and lumpy stuffing,  painted the wood in Old White, distressed it a bit, and gave it a few coats of wax.

Once in upholstery class, she picked out her favorite fabric - drop cloth - and set about learning to reupholster it.  Dee admits to preferring a paint brush over a sewing machine any day of the week.  Under the helpful tutelage of her instructor she expertly recovered the chairs with only a slight bump or two along the way.

Now, came the really fun part.  She decided to make these already unique chairs that much MORE unique by adding some graphics to them.

Are you ready to see her vision all completed?  You're gonna love it...

Ladies and gentlemen, without further ado, please rise and give a warm welcome to...

WHAT DID I TELL YOU!?!

If that doesn't make you want to run out, grab the first unsuspecting man (or woman) you see and head down the aisle to the altar, I don't know what will!

To see the full tutorial on how Dee transformed these chairs from two lonely individuals into a couple of happily ever afters, run off with your beloved and head over to her blog My Painted Stuff.  You can also visit Dee at the My Painted Stuff Facebook page.

Thanks Dee for letting us feature your furniture flip!

Now, where the heck is Triple H?  I think vow renewals are in order!   I don't care if it hasn't even been three years yet.  I want chairs like this!!

Dresser From Heaven

Every day little signs of Heaven happen right here on Earth.  Most days we are all just too busy to notice it.  Other days, it slaps you upside the head and MAKES you take notice.  How glorious those days are...when you get a sign and the energy that fills you up sustains you and reassures you that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing.  Have you ever felt that?  I have.  I bet you have, too.  I know Kelli from Pretty Painted Things And Other Things That Make Me Happy has.  She is lucky her sign didn't literally fall into her lap or this story would have a whole different ending to it.

Here is what Kelli writes...

~ ~ ~

We left church, heading to the drugstore for the newspaper, then home. This is the conversation in our van between my husband and I...

Me: The world feels topsy-turvy these days, uncertain. We really need to have faith that God will care for us.

Hubby: Yeah, but He's not going to drop a sandwich and money in our lap.

Me: No joke, but he gave us brains and talents to take care of ourselves. He'll provide. You just have to have faith.

About 2 minutes later and a mile from home, I saw a lady standing by the side of the road with a dresser and a piece of paper.

"STOP! Please turn around and go back."

I asked if she was selling the desk and she said, "No, it's free. We're getting new furniture and need to make room. Do you want it?"

Of course my answer was "Let me go home, take the seats out of my van and I'll be right back."

After we got it all loaded in the van and were driving home, I laughed and told my husband "God has a pretty funny sense of humor."

~ ~ ~

Here's the dresser that was sitting by the side of the road...

It is a nice solid piece of furniture but in person it's finish was showing it's age and years of wear.

Kelli felt this dresser gave off a masculine vibe and decided to snaz it up with the color black.  She scrubbed the original pulls on the bottom drawers with some non-abrasive cleanser until they looked like new and opted to replace the top ones with new knobs.

Once finished with her work, the dresser looks like this...

Isn't it gorgeous?  I love the color combo of the stain and dark paint.  The pulls really stand out now.  Kelli has an incredible eye for design and detail.

You can see more of Kelli and her work (plus delicious recipes) on her Facebook page Pretty Painted Things And Other Things That Make Me Happy.  Be sure to click "Like" while you are there because she has some awesome posts that make you feel like you are a guest at her home.  I'm one of her biggest fans!  (Could you tell?)

If you live in the Nashville area, you are lucky, because she sells the beautiful pieces that she creates.  Ask her about it.

The rest of you (well, ALL of us) be watching for the little signs and whispers of Heaven throughout your day.  They are there cheering you on whether you know it or not.

Vanity Thy Name Is...

...gorgeous.

We all know how hard working a vanity table can be, right?  Imagine the hours spent before it making one's self beautiful.  You'd think that having spent years serving it's purpose, patiently standing there as it's owner, whether it be a young girl playing dress up or a *woman doing trompe l'oeil on her face, that once that vanity reached retirement age it could....well...retire!

~ ~ ~
*YES!!!  I am talking about ME when I reference trompe l'oeil.  It's not called "trick of the eye" for nothing!

~ ~ ~
In the case of this vanity table there would be no early retirement for it.  Yes, it was tired.  Yes, it was found abandoned and free for the taking.  Yes, it was missing a drawer.  No, it can't retire.  It's going to continue working into it's twilight years.  So, begins the tale of the transformation of today's featured flip.

Here is this hardworking former beauty herself...

She was rescued by Amy from Found And Finished .  Amy had her own work cut out for her in taking on this project.  She wasn't scared of her appearance and the condition she found her in.  We all know NOTHING scares a furniture flipper and especially a furniture flipper who is a high school teacher, wife and mom of THREE BOYS!

This project was completed during Amy's pre-chalk/pre-milk paint days.  She sanded, primed, painted two coats of green, two coats of grey, handpainted "Grow" on the top, pickle stained it and then poly'ed it.  Remember, this is a workin' vanity and a LOT of hard work went into it.

Are you ready for this retiree's 2nd chapter reveal?  Retiree being the vanity, not Amy.  You got that right?

Ta-da!!

Isn't she magnificent?  Amy says the plants really enjoy growing in those drawers and the cigar boxes on top!  That's an awesome new use for an old object, don't you think?

Amy says being the lone female in a house full of guys, that this is how her "girli"ness gets out, via painting, home decor and creating a shabby chic little world.  Go check out Amy at Found And Finished.  She has a lot more of her work featured on her Facebook page.

Thanks Amy for letting us feature your fab furniture flip!

I'll see all of you bright and early tomorrow in hair & makeup!  Bring your own paint palette!

It Was Love At First Flip...

We have a flipper in Alaska who is new to the craft but she's a natural at it!

Amy from Isn't She Darling was a baker by trade, having run her own bakery in Alaska.  She recently sold her business and after a quick vacation she stumbled onto furniture flipping and SHE.  IS.  HOOKED.  It IS addicting, but it's a GOOD type of addiction.

She had never been a fan of painting furniture because the chemicals in ordinary paint and her do not get along.  Amy was at a Women's Expo when she met a representative from Cece Caldwell.  Impressed with what she heard, she bought a sample of the turquoise.  Eager to begin a new creative outlet she set her sights on a $25 nightstand bought at a thrift store.

Here's her find...

He may be short and squat, but there's potential in that little guy!

Amy began working on him, determined to make him pop with color.  She applied her turquoise paint and switched out his knobs and pull.

Ready for his reveal?  Here is how he looks now...

He looks like he is SMILING in this picture.  At least I think so!!  What an awesome makeover.

Amy at Isn't She Darling has a Facebook page where you can see more of her work.  So, come on flippers!!  Get over there and welcome her into the furniture flippin' fold!

Thanks so much Amy for submitting your very first flip to us!  We are honored to showcase it for you!

Free For The Taking...

...junk not included.  Bobbie of New To You  was out on a furniture hunt one day when the gentleman who owned this piece of furniture was so desperate to be rid of it he called out to her "It's FREE!".

THAT attracted her attention.  You know us furniture flippers, we are incapable of turning down any piece of furniture marked FREE.  It's just not possible.

The drawers were crammed full of junk and paper, which the gentleman kindly dumped onto the ground before she hauled it home.

Here's this little freebie before...

It's a little rough!  You can't tell from this picture but Bobbie says it looked like something was GROWING on the sides.  A thorough scrubbing was in order before the fun part could begin...the makeover.

After it's bath, this side table was freshened up with some hot pink paint.  It was then trimmed with some silver glitter sparkles making this a really fun piece!  It was quickly claimed by her daughter for her room.

What young girl could turn this down?  I don't know of any.

Here's the after...

How sweet is that?  You can visit New To You  on Facebook where you will see more of their work.  Run on over there and give her a "like", then leave her a comment!

Thanks Bobbie of New To You for letting us feature your furniture flip!

One Ringy Dingy, Two Ringy Dingy...

I was asked just yesterday by my tech savvy son, "Why do you still have a landline phone?"  I told him it felt like a more secure line to talk on than a cell phone.  We all know that the conversations of a Midwest farmer's daughter (in-law) are of the utmost importance, right?  Somebody, somewhere has to be trying to tap into those calls or so my autobiography will someday read.  Now, if I owned today's featured flip, I would say IT was the reason why I still have a landline phone.  The phone has to sit somewhere and what better place to have it rest than a "telephone table" or, as some of us like to call it, a "gossip bench".

Our flip today comes from Vikki of Veelou.  Vikki lives in the north of England and she upcycles old furniture and mirrors.  The piece she is sharing with us today is this one...

It's a nice solid piece of furniture.  It actually looks much better built than the ones I've seen in person.  Vikki set to work on it, cleaning, sanding, painting it Paris Grey and then using a dry brush technique on it in white to give it more depth.  The interior was painted in a grey and white, and the hardware is done in white with a wash of silver.  To finish the piece, she reupholstered the seat in a beautiful silver floral fabric.

Are you ready to see this elegant piece?  Here you go...

Isn't it lovely?  The features that were lost in the dark wood before now really stand out.  Forget talking on the phone while sitting on this bench, this bench will become the topic of conversation in whatever room its placed.

To see the entire makeover condensed into a short video jot over to Veelou and pay Vikki a visit.  Her website features more of her beautiful work and it is available for purchase in Mainland UK.

Thanks Vikki for letting us feature your fabulous furniture flip!  Keep on flippin'!

Forget The Dollar Menu...I'm Buyin' Me Some Chairs!

Some people have ALL THE LUCK.  Like our featured flipper today.  She scored two chairs at a garage sale for $1.00 each.  $1.00!!!  Where are these sales when I go out?  I bought a box of Girl Scout Cookies last week from a yard sale, it cost me twice that and they were stale.  Really people, would it hurt you to pick up the phone and asking me to tag along with you the next time you go yard sailing?  I'll even drive AND buy you an iced coffee from McDonalds!!

Leone from 1 Girl 1 Brush is not only a savvy buyer but she is one smart lady, too.  She has the philosophy of "why buy new when you can have something stunning and unique that's good for our planet, cost effective and a great conversation piece."  I totally agree!

The two chairs she purchased were pretty solid but one did need a little bit of repair.  She was up to the challenge!  (Another sign of a good furniture flipper - don't be scared of repair.)

Here's what they looked like before...

That's only one chair in the picture.  If it helps you to envision them, cross your eyes and you'll see two.  This post is about TWO OF THEM.  I swear my parents had a set of four chairs just like that.  Unless they hopped a plane to Ontario, I'm pretty sure this isn't them, but it could be a relative of theirs.  Don't you love the orange?

Leone set to work on them.  She cleaned them up and gave them an up-to-date new look with paint and new upholstery.

Ready for the reveal?

Awesome, right?  Orange you glad she changed them up?

Some people and furniture can't pull off stripes, especially if they are of the black & white variety.  Others, like me (see my Facebook Profile pic) and this flip can totally rock them out.

Now that I've made the introductions, you should hop on over to 1 Girl 1 Brush and check her out for yourself.  After you are done at her website, stop by the 1 Girl 1 Brush Facebook page, give her a "like" and leave her a comment.

Thanks Leone for letting us feature your furniture flip!

One Flipper's Addiction...

puts an end to furniture affliction.

You know those pieces of furniture that everyone points at and whispers about?  The ones that you can tell were once beautiful but the years have taken it's toll on it?  The hard life it's lived is evident on its face and tired worn body.  It's those pieces of furniture who enter the Suite Revivals By Tami furniture rehab center hoping for a second chance at reclaiming the glory that was once their lives.

Take this guy...he arrived literally broken and distraught, a shell of his former self.

He once had a career in radio.  You know that saying, "He has a face for radio?"  Well, he was one of the few that avoided that label, until the later years, that is.

Suite Revivals By Tami repaired his broken leg, reattached his top, and added new shelves.  His faded appearance received a freshening up with the application of black chalk paint distressed lightly, a layer or so of clear wax, and finally he was wrapped in vehicle grade PVC vinyl.

Now this guy is ready to take on the world again.  Here he is after his rehabilitation stay...

Isn't his transformation amazing?  Ladies and Gents, he's available.  You can purchase him and take him home to live out his golden years at your house.  Contact Suite Revivals By Tami for more details.  She has a shop located in Brownwood, Texas.  ~ If you are Amanda Bynes or Lindsay Lohan just move along though.

Thanks Tami for letting us feature your grand furniture flip!

Another Hitchhiker Picked Up

What is with all of the hitchhiking furniture these days?  I don't get it.  Are they that unhappy at home, is that what it is?  Or are they really just out for a nice stroll and didn't mean for some lady and her husband to wrestle them into the back of a pickup then speed off with them?  (Sounds like me & Triple H!)

I'm speaking today about this guy, this poor drab dresser...

What was his story?  Where did he come from and where was he headed?  I can't tell you that but what I can tell you is where he ended up.

Karen from The Weekend Country Girl nabbed him.  She got her husband in on the act, too.

Once home, she started to turn back time on him.  After a lot of prep work, some painting, priming, distressing and waxing, she ended up with this handsome guy...

His family won't even recognize him now.  He doesn't even go by the same name anymore.  He is now known as "The Credenza".  That's a much more fitting name for such a handsome guy, don't you think?

For all of the details and even more pics of this fabulous makeover, meander on over to The Weekend Country Girl.
While you are there check out the post she did on her daughter's wedding!  Unbelievably cool!  It makes me want to marry Triple H all over again but have them plan it for me!

Thanks Karen aka The Weekend Country Girl for letting us feature your furniture flip!
