"I Butter Do Something...

...to change the color and cheap 1970's look" is what Amy from The Cobblestone Market thought when she got this armoire in her possession.

Our furniture flipper Amy was given this piece years ago by an old roommate of hers.  She said she hated everything from the "shocking butter color" to the "fakey fakey fake bamboo trim" and the "bright white paint" on the trim.  About the only thing Amy DID like about this was the storage.  There's NEVER enough storage in a home and Amy wasn't about to let go of what this armoire provided.

So, she rebuilt some of the structure, including adding doors.  Then she painted the whole piece in many layers of greens and blues until she achieved the perfect Robin's Egg Blue tone.

Amy antiqued the whole thing with homemade brown and black glazes.  Finally, she sprayed the old hardware and added a couple of wood details with the help of Gorilla Glue.

All in all, Amy totally changed the look of this piece from something she hated into something she adores.  It now holds center stage in her craft room.  She's had many requests to sell it but, Amy can't bear to part with it.

I can see why.  That barely resembles it's former self.  I adore it, too!

Let's take another look at the entire completed piece...

The Cobblestone Market is located in Portage, Michigan.  Amy, her friend Sheree and sister Meghan all work together to offer vintage - repurposed - and handmade furniture and accessories for sale.

They currently sell from their booth at Consigned Design but they also offer shipping.

You can see more examples of their items on The Cobblestone Market Facebook page.  Head on over there, give them a "like" and let them know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Amy for sharing your fabulous furniture flip!

Dear readers, have you submitted a flip of your own yet?  What are you waiting for?  Send me before/after pictures and all of the details to furnitureflippin@yahoo.com .

See you tomorrow!

Tag-Teaming It In Nashville...

We've got a tag-teaming duo in Nashville, TN and together they make up All Things Painted - Repurposed & Reinvented Furnishings.  Allow me to introduce you to Sonda and Tiffany.  The two of them are always scouting out furniture and have found themselves in some scary places in search of the next piece.  They believe (rightly so) that there is safety in numbers.  (Not to mention it's always a heck of a lot of FUN to be working with your BFF!)   With today's flip though, it wasn't so much the area it was purchased, but the sticker shock that almost scared Sonda off.  Sonda was at a flea market and this piece sat with two other pieces being offered for sale by an elderly gentleman.  The price tag of $80 initially deterred her from the purchase but as the day came to a close and the man was still sitting with his three lonely items, Sonda felt compelled to buy it and take it back to the workshop to make over.

Sonda writes, "When I got it to my workshop I wasn't happy with the restoration requirements.  Lots of wood glue, new trim board, new pulls, sanding, paint and I built shelves inside."

On this particular piece Tiffany base painted it in a yellow and then applied a custom Peacock green and a Robin's Egg blue paint over it.  Then Sonda stepped in and did the detail work.   She freehanded the silhouette painting on the door and then stenciled the wording on the bottom of the piece.

Let's take a look at the entire wardrobe, shall we?

This piece sold within one week of being finished.

That doesn't surprise me in the least.

You can find more wonderful examples of their work on their All Things Painted Facebook page.  Be prepared to stay there for awhile because they have some amazing pieces to show you.  In addition to the All Things Painted page, you can find Sonda's artwork on her Sonda's Easel Facebook page.

Let's take one more look at it...

No detail was overlooked on this piece, that's clearly evident.  Just beautiful!  Head on over to their Facebook page and let Sonda & Tiffany know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much ladies for sharing your amazing furniture flip!

Dear readers, don't forget to get your flip in, too!  You don't have to have a furniture flippin' business to be featured.  This blog is also currently accepting your witty comments.  So get a typing!  Dull ones are welcome, too, not that I've found a dull one on here yet.
See you tomorrow!

Nursing Furniture Back To Health...

Today we travel to Germany where we are going to meet Andrea from Vintage Inspirations - Antiques & Brocante.

Andrea is a very busy woman.  She's not only a very talented furniture flipper and decorator, she's also a busy mom to five little ones.  She left her career in nursing to shift her focus to one in decorating.  Recently she has completed two of these Louis XV Cabinets.

The sheer size of it is intimidating to me and while I would be wondering "how the heck am I going to get that home?"  Andrea shows how they actually break down into 7 pieces plus the shelving and they are held together with 8 screws.  This makes it small enough to fit into the back of a Volvo.

Once Andrea gets it home, she treats the piece with woodworm killer because she says woodworms are out of control in Europe.  After that was dry and had set overnight, she painted the interior.  Her customer wanted a lilac color with a grey undertone so she mixed up some Annie Sloan and painted the inside.

Then Andrea wallpapered the back panel.  She likes to use Laura Ashley as it is simple and elegant.

Now it was time to paint the exterior.  Andrea loves to highlight all the carvings of the piece in a contrasting color so they stand out.  Her customer wanted a dark grey on the outside with white details.  She sanded the piece to give it a distressed feel and then waxed.  She used dark wax on this piece per her customer's request.  When all the painting was finished, it was time to reassemble for a photo. The crown on this cabinet was too tall to fit in Andrea's house, so that is why they chose to set it up outside.

Let's take a look at this piece now...

Beautiful!  Remember I told you she had two of these to makeover?  You can go to her blog and check out the after of the second one.  It's stunning, too.  You can also follow along with Andrea on her Vintage Inspirations - Antiques & Brocante Facebook page.  Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Andrea for sharing your gorgeous furniture flip!

One more flip and we'll close out this week.  If you have a furniture flip to share, email me before/after pictures and plenty of details to furnitureflippin@yahoo.com .
See you tomorrow!

Raising The Bar Even Higher...

Are you a glass half-full kind of person or the glass half-empty type?  No matter what you answer, one thing is certain...you apparently did not pour enough wine into your glass to begin with.   I've got a couple of remedies for that predicament...

First off, you can buy yourself this wine glass.  Then when you become annoying and somebody asks how many you've had, you can answer with a clear conscience..."I've only had ONE!".

Or, you can go to St. Louis Vintage Market Days this weekend and purchase the latest creation from Rescued Furnishings.  The husband and wife duo of Brandt & Nicole began this furniture flip with seemingly ordinary armoire.

I can assure you that it no longer is ordinary...in any sense of the word.  The vision they had in repurposing this is nothing short of brilliant.  I have repurposed a thing or two in my lifetime but I would have looked at this and thought, "...uh, paint it, hang clothes in it and put it in one of my two closetless bedrooms upstairs?"

I like their idea better. They've repurposed furniture before into bars but this one takes it over the top.  I present to you their latest creation...a wine bar complete with fridge!

They didn't sacrifice any of the spectacular details.  They added a bunch of custom touches to the interior, including lights which can change colors at the touch of a remote...

Check out the interior...

And finally, the exterior...

What did I tell you?  Extraordinary!  Remember another bar they made which I showed you awhile back?

You can see more pictures and read more about this furniture flip on the Rescued Furnishings Website.  They are based in St. Louis, Missouri and recently expanded into a larger commercial workspace.  They are also retailers of General Finishes Products and are offering DIY Classes.   You can also follow along on their activities on their Rescued Furnishings Facebook page.  Head over there and let them know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Nicole & Brandt for sharing your amazing furniture flip!

Happy April Fool's Day everyone!  Happy Birthday to my youngest nephew Joshua.  Bye-bye teenage years!  How quickly that time flew!

See you tomorrow!

Holy Chalk-A-Mole Batman!

Little did Dani of House Sparrow know when she emailed me one of her latest furniture flips with the subject titled "Here's Batman" that she was actually emailing it to Batman's mom.  That's right.  I am finally confessing to all of you Furniture Flippin' followers that I, Stephanie, am the Dark Knight's mother.  Here's proof that my son Zach (you know him as half of the dynamic duo who reaped the rewards of The Park Ridge Project) is Batman.  I've never been able to keep a secret.  I hope you can.

Dani recently answered the distress call sent out by this "Tallboy" she found through a Portuguese classified ad.  When she picked it up she said the wood was cheap, shiny and brand new looking.

She painted him all over with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Primer Red then followed that with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Graphite.  She did a bit of fine sanding then finished it with dark wax.  The drawer sides were plain unfinished boxwood so she stenciled some sparrows and flowers using Primer Red mixed with wax, did a sand down on it, then waxed over the whole side to age them a bit.

What a difference it did make!  Let's take a look at this bad boy now...

See how the details really stand out with the paint technique she used?  Gorgeous.  It certainly doesn't look like cheap wood anymore.

It's those little touches like the stenciled drawers that really help make a piece stand out from the others.  It gives just that extra step of "quality" to the craftsmanship that would otherwise be missing.  It's a nice surprise when the drawers are opened, too.

Let's stand back and take in the entire piece...
That DOES look like a bat symbol at the top!

House Sparrow is a family affair.  Dani lives in Portugal but shares the page with her furniture painting family based in the UK.  Be sure and check out their House Sparrow Facebook page.  Give them a "like" and let them know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.  (Everybody loves to know how you found their page, I know I do!)  You'll be rewarded with projects from both Portugal and the UK.  It's a twofer!  I said TWOFER, not to be confused with the villain Two-Faced played by my love Tommy Lee Jones.  (Hi Tommy Lee if you are reading this.  I've loved you forever.  Hehehehe...chances are he's NOT reading this but a girl can dream.)

Thank you Dani of House Sparrow for sharing your fabulous furniture flip!

Hey everyone, you don't have to be a professional furniture flipper to submit your flip.  Email me at furnitureflippin@yahoo.com .  Before/after pictures and tons of details please.   I am also accepting witty mental meanderings in the form of comments here on the blog.  Get your little fingers a tappin' that keyboard.

They Set The Bar High...

Hey everyone!  Let's head to St. Louis, Missouri, home of Anheuser-Busch and the young couple behind Rescued Furnishings.  They've been busy and I'm told they have a big announcement to make soon, but MUMS the word.

Today we are going to take a look at one of their coolest furniture flips.  Nicole and Brandt found this 1930's Child's Wardrobe at an antique mall.  It lured in Brandt with it's charm.  Nicole wasn't quite so sure.  Brandt knew it would make the perfect bar.  They bought it and brought it home.  (Brandt won that round.)

Behind those two doors on each side there were little 6" rods to hang clothes.  Those came out. The bottom doors were removed and wine storage went in.

Nicole writes, "If you look closely at all the doors you see lovely strips of veneer on the edges..."accents" I guess you could call them. They were in horribly bad shape. This was my first experience at removing veneer.  An iron, a cloth and several SEVERAL hours later these silly strips were also removed.  We cleaned up the original hardware which turned out to be really neat art deco pieces with black triangles on them.  Now they "pop" on the grey."

By the time this piece was finished Brandt had fallen hard for it and really didn't want to sell it.  Nicole convinced him otherwise.  (Nicole won that round.)  Sold it was.  It now happily resides in Minnesota.  (Brandt won the next round when he convinced Nicole to sell a desk she longed to keep).  That makes three rounds and everyone is still standing.  High fives all around!!

Let's all belly up to the bar and take a gander at their handiwork...

Open those doors!  We're thirsty for more!  It's FRIDAY after all!

Look at that!  I love the way they've used the white embellishments.  It really compliments the Grey Goose.

Again, the eye for detail is spot-on.  The tops of those wine bottles really pop against the corkscrew (that I imagine is tucked out of sight.)  Plus, all of that storage.  One can only hope there is a bottle of Canadian Club hidden behind that closed door.  Well done, Rescued Furnishings, well done!!  I'd say they are shakin' the furniture flippin' world and causing a stir.  (Hehehehe, this was a fun one to write!)

Nicole and Brandt have since done a couple more of these.  You can head on over to their Rescued Furnishings blog for more info on the items they makeover.  You can also see some of the inventory they have for sale on their Etsy page.  For up to the minute news, (which you will want to be a part of) stumble on over to their Rescued Furnishings Facebook page.  Let them know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks Nicole and Brandt for sharing your fantastic furniture flip!

That wraps up another week in our cure for crappy furniture crusade.  Five new ones come your way beginning on Monday.  Have you submitted yours yet?  What are you waiting for you?  This.  Is.  Your.  Invitation.

Hey! "I Was Too Excited To Start Painting That I Forgot To Take A Before Picture" People...

Come meet your leader Kelli from Pretty Painted Things and Other Things That Make Me Happy.  Some of you readers who have been with us from the beginning are familiar with Kelli's work.  For those of you who aren't well you are in for a treat, especially after you see TODAY'S Flip!

I will say there's not much our Kelli can't do.  She is constantly painting furniture, cooking, home schooling, involved in church activities, and being an all around awesome person.  She just is really really really bad at getting that before picture no matter how many times I remind her to take a before picture.  She'll forget.  Thus, she has now been promoted to Queen of The No Before Picture People.  So, in place of a BEFORE picture I'm showing you this picture instead....

Kelli made that!  Looks delish!  I'll give you the recipe in a bit.  Let's get onto the flip!

Kelli recently circumvented the delivery of a chifferobe and a bed to Goodwill and had them delivered to her home instead.  Her method was simple.  Her good friend Tara owned them and she sent a quick text to Kelli offering them up before her hubby carted them away.  Kelli jumped at the offer as any one of us would.

Kelli chose to do these pieces in a soft cream/beige color and a very subtle blonde color, with just a few places that were bright white.  The handle on the chifferobe door was on the right side of the door. All of the knobs were modern silver and non-descript.  Kelli jokes that her OCD kicked in, since the knob on the drawer across from the chifferobe knob was in the middle of a wooden embellishment.  That bugged her and she felt compelled to even things up.  She filled the hole where the door knob was and drilled a hole in the middle of the door and replaced the knobs with some pretty, intricate metal hardware.  Kelli wanted the majority of detail to be drawn to these handles, so she painted some wooden knobs for the other drawers to blend in and not stand out like the middle knobs.

After Kelli got it all painted, she was thinking it needed one more thing, so she started distressing and sanding it.  She looked at one drawer and decided everything she paints does not need to be distressed.  She wanted to keep it light and clean, so dark wax wasn't a good option either. She decided to do a white wash sort of finish over both pieces instead (super watered down white paint, dry brushed on, then sort of wiped/daubed off).

Kelli admits that all of this detail work took a long time to complete.  When she got these two pieces they had already been completely spray painted a shiny white.  While white is a good base, glossy white demands several coats of paint.  She used her own home made chalk paint.
After she was satisfied with the way it looked she then waxed everything to seal it.  Did all of this work pay off?  You BETCHA it did!!

Check out these pictures...

So gorgeous I forgive her for not taking the before picture!

You can visit with Kelli and see more of her beautiful work on her Facebook Page Pretty Painted Things and Other Things That Make Me Happy.   It's not just about furniture.  She shares recipes and let's us follow along on the fun stuff she does.  Speaking of recipes, here you go.
Kelli's Black Eyed Pea Salsa
1/2 Sweet Onion, diced
One Yellow & One Red Pepper, diced
3 Tomatoes, diced (You can used canned tomatoes. Fire roasted tomatoes add a wonderful flavor)
2 Cucumbers, diced
1/2 C. Cilantro (more or less according to taste)
1 Can Black Beans, washed and drained
1 Can Black Eyed Peas (Kelli uses a can that's labeled Sensibly Seasoned - they are just a bit smoky tasting and so good!)
Toss all ingredients together and squeeze the juice of one fresh lime over the salsa.  Mix and season to taste.  Kelli uses onion salt, pepper and a bit of cumin.  She says the salsa tastes even better the second day.
There you go!  A fantastic furniture flip on a Friday PLUS a recipe you can make this holiday weekend!  I betcha didn't expect that!  Now, go visit with Kelli at Pretty Painted Things and Other Things That Make Me Happy. Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'!  Feel free to talk to her here via our comments section, too.

For those of you in or around Nashville, TN this beautiful bedroom set could be yours!  It's for sale!

Thanks Kelli for sharing your beyond beautiful furniture flip!

Wardrobe's Calling!

Picture this...you are in the middle of a big furniture overhaul project for a client.  When I say big, I mean BIG, as in 20 pieces of French furniture BIG.  You are painting and making over these pieces for a client.  As the hours pass by, you feel like you need a little bit of a break.  What would you do?  Read a magazine?  Watch a little television?  Go for a walk?  Well, no, no, and no would have been the answer to those suggestions by today's furniture flipper.  Meet Lori of Vintage Charm Restored.

Lori instead chose to take a break by doing MORE painting.  This time she tackled one of two wardrobes she had purchased very cheaply at a local yard sale.  Here's the one she summoned forward...

Now answer me this.  Why, oh why, can't I find stuff like that??  Why, oh why, do the local yard sales and Craigslist in my area not offer ANYTHING like this??  Sigh...big sigh.

Look at the curves and details on that piece.  The dainty feet.  What an awesome piece of furniture.  It's about to get even better.

Lori says that typically she would strip off all of the old paint.  In this case, it wasn't peeling so she decided to keep the age and story behind it and she skipped the stripping.  She base-coated it in Maison Blanche Jolie Blonde and then applied Benjamin Moore Spring Sky.  She highlighted the carvings and trim in Maison Blanche Magnolia.  She then clear waxed the whole piece.  Lastly she applied some Fiddes Jacobean on all of the details and did some shadowing to keep with the age of the piece.

She's ready for her close-up now!  Check her out...

Pretty spectacular!  Well, there's more to this beautiful makeover but for those details you need to head on over to Lori's blog Vintage Charm Restored .  The inside of this wardrobe received an update, too!   Take a cup of coffee with you when you go, because it is a wonderful blog and there is so much there to read and see.  I bet you'll become a subscriber, that is, if you aren't already.

Lori is also a Maison Blanche distributor.  For our Facebook friends, you can visit with Lori on her Vintage Charm Restored Facebook page.  Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks Lori for sharing your very charming furniture flip!

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious - He Done Gone And All That's Left Is An Armoire That's...

...ATROCIOUS.  So, I'll put it on the curb and tag it as for sale.  $40 bucks will take it and I'll be done with this hail!

Okay, I sincerely hope that you SANG that intro.  If you need to know the tune in order to sing it correctly, let me know.  You totally got that the last word in the above paragraph is supposed to REALLY be H-E-double hockey sticks, right?  I thought you got that.  You're a smart cookie.

Let's talk about Christy.  You know Christy, right?  What do you mean Christy who?  Oh, which Christy am I talking about it?  I'm talking about Christy of Vintage Belle.  Anyway...Christy went to this yard sale where this lady was selling her ex-boyfriends stuff.  Pretty cheap, I might add.  Christy spied this armoire for $40.  Yes, $40.  The seller said it was not allowed in her house ANYMORE!

Here is the offending ex-boyfriend belonging bearer of ill will...

Poor thing.  Sitting there amongst all of the other rummage sale items, wondering, "What did I do?  LADY!"

You know the saying, "One man's trash is another man's treasure"?  Well, one woman's trash is another woman's treasure, too.  (Guys who read this blog take note:  IT ONLY WORKS IN REGARDS TO FURNITURE.  If you act like trash don't expect some lady to come along and rescue you.  It doesn't work like that so behave.)  (You're welcome ladies!)

After lugging this armoire home, Christy cleaned him up and set about making him over.  (Much like we women do with all new relationships.  Not really.)  She did a lot of sanding and staining.  She used a homemade chalk paint in a cream color.  She used expresso stain over raw wood on top with a clear gloss poly.  She then antiqued the body with the stain and added some cream and gold highlights.  She finished with a clear wax.

Here's this bad boy now...

Pretty handsome!  He is living happily ever after with Christy as we speak.

Christy is just starting out and today we are going to encourage her because that's what we do!  Check out her Vintage Belle Facebook page.    Let her know you saw this awesome makeover here and become a fan.   Share the love on a Wednesday.  What a great way to end the month of July, too!

Thanks so much Christy of Vintage Belle for sharing your fantabulous furniture flip!

So Regal, She Should Gift It To Young Prince...

...George Alexander Louis.  That's his name!  (I totally called Alexander, I just didn't tell anyone but Triple H.)  Oh, well, it's not the royal baby who is the topic of conversation on this Thursday morning, at least not on this little blog.  Today we are going to talk about Toni Springer & her very gorgeous Armoire makeover.

Toni, her husband and family have been stationed overseas since 2003 both in Japan and now Germany.  Being outside of the U.S., she feels that she has definitely missed out on some of the interior design trends here.  She recently had a life changing experience when she discovered chalk paint  She says, "Who knew it could be so revolutionary?  Apparently everyone but me."

Toni hopped on that chalk paint train and went to work on this...

Check.  It.  Out.  See!  That looks kind of regal, doesn't it?  At least when I see the design on the doors, that's what I think.  Alas, it was showing it's age and was calling out for a little sprucing up.  Toni heeded that call and painted the Amoire in Annie Sloan's Country Grey and she used Old White for the detailing.

Now, Furniture Flippin' friends, it is with great honor that I formally introduce you to...

Isn't that SPECTACULAR?  Toni softened the look of it up and I could totally see it in Little Prince George Alexander Louis' new nursery.  As a matter of fact, I think she and I should take a road trip there to present it to them.  I get to go because it was my idea.  We'll post pictures along the way and snag a piece of silverware from their castle for you all as a souvenir.  (Hey, if Barbara Walters can lift things each time she goes to the White House, why can't we at a palace?)

Anyway, back to our friend Toni.  Now, Toni doesn't have a furniture flippin' biz, she does these flips for herself.  So, here is YOUR task for today.  You are going to bombard our friend Toni with comments of encouragement from back home.  Yes, you are.  I don't care how busy you are.  If you have time to read this, then you have time to leave a comment.  You can leave them here or you can leave them on the Furniture Flippin' Facebook page, it's your choice, but leave them.  She told me she is inspired by all of the furniture flips that have been featured here so it's only right that we inspire her to keep flippin' some more.

Thanks Toni for sharing your awesomely beautiful furniture flip.  I'll meet you at the airport.   I'll hold the door and grab the carry-on luggage, you get the armoire.

Who's Next? Me! Me! Pick ME!!!

Hey you!  Yes, YOU.  The one with the huge stash of furniture waiting to be made over.  Yeah, you know I'm talking to you.  You finish a project and then survey your stash, wondering what to tackle next.  There is at least one piece that you are avoiding making eye contact with, isn't there?  You can pretend that you don't see it, but for how long?  How long are you willing to let it sit there patiently waiting for you to transform it?  Doesn't it make you feel bad?  Don't you feel like you are letting it down?  What are you afraid of?

Well...you need to do what Sally of The Sassy Stripper did.  She was just like you (AND ME!  I'm a TOTAL avoider!  I could be the President of the Total Avoider of Difficult Flips Club).  She would pretend to not see the hulking armoire standing in her workshop.  Why?  It intimidated her.

Here's the intimidator before...

Pretty scary looking isn't it?  Don't get me wrong, it's strong and sturdy, well made with a lot of potential.  It's the sheer size of it that would be enough to send anybody running.  The Sassy Stripper aka Sally faced her fears and mustering up all of her courage, she pointed her finger at him and said, "YOU!  Your time has finally arrived!"  (I don't know if she actually said that or pointed but it makes for good story telling.)

She was meticulous in painting this piece.  She felt it had waited so long it deserved some attention to detail.  Periwinkle Blue and Chantilly Lace were the colors she chose to use.  The original hardware was gorgeous and she gave them a coat of paint, as well.  The end result when she was finished is this...

There are more pictures of this magnificent makeover on The Sassy Stripper's Facebook Page .  You are going to want to check it out in detail.

Back to YOU now.  Put your big girl or big boy pants on and quit being chicken of that piece that you've been avoiding.   Take this as your challenge for the weekend.  Push the easier projects aside and tackle a toughie, so says the lady with a garage full of her own untouched intimidating projects.

For those of you who are in the Toronto area, you aren't going to be working on projects this weekend!  We have different plans for you!  You are going to go visit The Sassy Stripper and her big sis, Carole of Toronto Shabby Chic.  They are having a huge 2nd Annual Summer Sale this Saturday and Sunday at their workshop at 187 Castlefield Avenue in the Yonge/Eglinton area of Toronto.  They have accumulated so much furniture that the workshop is full and they need to move it out and BUY MORE!  Help a sister(s) out!

Thanks to Carole for submitting her little sis Sally's furniture flip!

I Don't Know What YOU Call It...

...but I call it BEAUTIFUL!

Today's featured furniture flip is a, well, I don't quite know what to call it.  Don't think TOO BADLY of me, because the very talented Sherri from {Simply Paint It} didn't know what to call it either!  (So there!)  Other than gone because it sold practically IMMEDIATELY once it was completed.

What is it?  Here's the before...

Sherri said it was so ugly she questioned why she even rescued it.  Always up for a challenge, she tackled this project head-on.   She painted it with CeCe Caldwell clay & chalk based paints. The first layer was done in Vermont Slate, followed by Smokey Mountain for the final top coat.  She then distressed and waxed it.  Finally, the two table tops were done with a satin finish for a more durable finish.  The glass was replaced with chicken wire and the piece was transformed.

Once completed this piece quickly became Sherri's FAVORITE flip and I can see why!

Check out this former ugly duckling now...

She's quite the beauty now and she proudly spends her days in her new owner's dining room.

That just further reinforces what all of us furniture flippers know, even the ugly ones can turn pretty darn fantastic given the right makeover by the right person.

Sherri just isn't a furniture flipper she is also a CeCe Caldwell retailer.  You can visit with Sherri at her Facebook page {Simply Paint It} for more details.

Thanks Sherri for letting us feature your lovely furniture flip!

Engineered A Great Design...

...is exactly what Sherri of Painted Vintage reLoved Furniture did with this unique furniture flip!

Mother's Day was approaching and while the rest of us were pondering lame-o gifts like flowers, candy, hosta plants for the front yard or a trip to the all you can eat buffet for our moms, Sherri was planning a way to make her Mom's day great and in the process make the rest of us look BAD.  Two birds - one stone, you know?  SHERRI!!!  (I told MY mom I wasn't blogging today, thank you very much!)

Anyway, back on track.  Miss Make Us Look Bad began with this...

She took the jewelry armoire and with the help of her trusty little guy, she revamped the exterior with some primer & paint applied with her also trusty Graco HVLP.

The picture she chose to have printed for the front was a special one of her Grandpa Jerry.  Sherri uploaded it to Staples and her giant print was ready for pickup that day.

After carefully adhering the print to the armoire and going with her instincts on a few of the steps with great success she had this lovely piece to present to her equally lovely Mom...

Isn't it flippin' FANTASTIC?  Are you on the phone yet apologizing to your own mother?  Don't feel too bad.  There is always next year.  Sherri at Painted Vintage reLoved Furniture shows us step by step on her blog how to achieve this awesome look on our own.  Go check it out.  Follow along with Sherri on her Painted Vintage reLoved Furniture Facebook page, too.  Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'!

Thanks Sherri of Painted Vintage reLoved Furniture!  We love your furniture flip and have one question left...any gift ideas we should know about for Father's Day?  We have 13 days left to get our act together!

A New Look For An Old Armoire

It always amazes me how an ordinary nothing special piece of furniture can turn into something so beautiful when attention is paid to it by a skillful hand.

Take today's featured furniture flip.  It's by Bre at Robin's Egg Interiors.  She began with this Plain Jane armoire that needed some repairs.

Here's the before...

See the missing bottom piece standing up inside it?  That was reattached and Bre went to town painting this soon to be a beauty up.  The inside was given a going over, too.  Fabric was added to the doors and now this armoire is gorgeous and romantic looking and oh so elegant.

Want to see her now?

Told ya!  She's a beauty!!  Robin's Egg Interiors motto is "We make furniture happy again."  Looks like she's happy to me!  Go visit Robin's Egg Interiors.   They are on Facebook where you'll see more of their work.
