And she DID!
This is such a fun, fun, fun makeover project by Beth at Under A Pile Of Scrap! She had this table that was in dire need of an update. It had some good things about it and some bad things. With an idea in her mind, Beth set to work. Like a lot of us, her excitement over beginning the transformation got the better of her and after she began the work remembered, "BEFORE PICTURES!"
Here is the before...
See? It has some really nice detail on it. She had her Triple H (See Flippin' Jargon above) cut the legs down some so she could use it as a smaller coffee table.
Then it was all up to Beth to put her artistic talents to work. She sanded, painted it, stained it and did some more to it and finally she turned it into this...
Now remember...you are on Furniture Flippin' and NOT on Pottery Barn...though it looks like it could be a table from Pottery Barn.
Back to the reveal...
GORGEOUS!!! I love how the shape of the table just screamed out, "BETH! Make me pretty again and make me into a clock table!"
Now, that's just one shot of that fun table. For even more pictures and to read all about it, run over to Under A Pile Of Scrap!
Thanks Beth for letting us feature your furniture flip!

A China Cabinet Transformation
There are some pieces of furniture that you can look at and see how beautiful they must have been on the day they were built. Unfortunately, time and circumstances haven't kept them in pristine condition and it shows. That was the case with this china cabinet that April from A Heart's Desire found.
She brought this beauty home and went to work on it. As you can see in the before picture there was quite a bit of repair work that needed to be done. There was some molding missing and the finish was not in the condition needed in order to re-stain. After polling her Facebook fans, she chose a color combination that really allowed the detail of this china cabinet to pop.
Want to see this piece now? You are going to love it!
The colors April used and the attention to all of the details, really make this china cabinet a show stopper.
To see all of the close-up pictures and the step by step process it took to complete this transformation visit April from A Heart's Desire.

A Not To Be Forgotten Fainting Couch
A fainting couch, can you imagine owning one? I can! Especially after seeing the beauty and attention to detail that Susan from Simply Stone Creek put into the one she found and revived.
Here is the beauty before...
Susan fell in love with it and wasn't about to leave it behind. I think Susan is a lot like the rest of us...when she is excited about a piece of furniture full of history, it consumes her and she doesn't waste a moment tackling the project.
Upholstery? Scares me! Not Susan! She said this one even had horsehair stuffing. It was a challenging makeover for her, but as you'll see by the after picture, well worth the effort.
Direct your attention and get ready to swoon at the finished and exquisite fainting couch...
Isn't that gorgeous?!?
I shall recline on that couch, have my Triple H bring me a glass of sweet tea and a lace hand fan and there I shall stay. Forever. (Try talking like that to your Triple H for a day...say things like, "I shall miss you my love" as he leaves for work. I did one day. DROVE HIM CRAZY! Especially since I called it out loud enough for my neighbor to hear. Hehehehe! I shall do that again tomorrow.)
Back to Susan and her fabulous fainting couch.
Well...you have not even seen the best part of the makeover yet! I'm not going to show you either. For that you have to click on over to Simply Stone Creek and see ALL of the pictures and details of this project. The after picture above doesn't show the back - AND - YOU - HAVE - TO - SEE - THE - BACK! Now, off you go!
Thanks Susan for letting us feature your stunning furniture flip!

No Bottle - All Throttle Dresser Makeover
If there were furniture races, then this dresser makeover by Samm & Chris at Little House In The Big D would definitely get the win light!
Samm & her Triple H Chris have all the luck. They score quite frequently when they hit the garage sale circuit. It makes me want to get a covert operation going with a few of you and stake them out so we can get in on the super good deals they find. We'll need radios, and cell phones, GPS would be good, then you go on ahead of them and I'll tail behind them. Yell out, "Call it" when you see them spying a piece of furniture to flip. Or we can just follow their blog, wait until they are finished flipping, and buy it from them. Sounds like less work that way!
Here is a picture of a $5 dresser they picked up at one of their stops. Samm calls it Big Boy Blue...
He has some wear and tear on him but he is still a good solid piece of furniture. There is life left there in that old dresser.
Chris suggested adding racing stripes to Big Boy Blue and they started work on him. Cleaning, sanding, priming, taping, painting and totally revamping him. Want to see him now?
Here he is...
See! What did I tell you? Definitely a winner!
To see more pictures and the complete makeover step by step, visit Samm & Chris at Little House In The Big D.

Let's Talk About Sideboards
Yes, let's...first of all, if you say it really really fast it sounds like cyborg. Secondly, sometimes they are called a buffet. I've been calling my own, yet to be completely renovated one, a buffet. From here on out, I'm going to call it a sideboard and if it turns out to look even one-quarter as pretty as the one Kathleen from Between Blue and Yellow re-did then I might even give mine a first name, too. After all when I referred to it as a buffet, I added the first name of Phoebe. Don't hold your breath that mine will turn out anywhere near as good as this one. I think you'll all agree with me that Kathleen has some serious talent going on.
The one she began with, though attractive, was beginning to show it's age. There were a few dings and scratches plus some of her bling was missing. However, it had the potential to be much more. Here's the before...( I have that exact same garbage can! )
Kathleen calls the paint she used "oops paint" because it didn't have the label on it so she can't fill us in on the exact name of the color. She describes the new color as a soft pale blue/gray. The top she stained dark walnut. This sideboard is now a beauty. Want to see it?
Here she is...
What did I tell you? Gorgeous!!
To see more pictures of this updated sideboard visit Kathleen at Between Blue and Yellow . As with all of our features, grab a cup of coffee before you head over, you'll be there awhile admiring all that her blog offers. Check her out as well on her Between Blue and Yellow Facebook page. Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Completely FREE Kitchen Cabinet Makeover
Today we are taking a look at a kitchen cabinet makeover that I and my Triple H* completed a short time ago in our own home.
What I love about this makeover is that it was COMPLETELY FREE. Yes, you heard me right, F - R - E - E!
This cabinet originally looked like this...
That ^ was about 21 years ago. "Cringe" @ the grapevine and white lights. (It's not ceramic geese with blue scarves though so give me some credit!) The cabinets were about 3 years old then. Just the fronts of them were oak and the sides were simulated oak (Read: paper.)
Three years ago my friend Katalin and I applied beadboard to the cabinets, sanded, painted, sanded some more, stained the cabinets and added new hardware. Disregard that we are missing wall trim, please...work in progress this dear old house.
When we were finished it looked like this...
Big change. Flash forward to 2013 and I was eyeing that cabinet thinking it still needed a major overhaul. Actually the whole kitchen needed a facelift when it came to the countertop and backsplash. Dated tile has to go. This little bank of cabinets, well, there was no reason why it had to be matchy-matchy. I'm frugal, though, and knew that I could upgrade it for free by taking apart one of two 100 year old cabinets I had in the garage and repurposing it into the backsplash and new counter. Though this project isn't a piece of furniture per se, I did use a piece of furniture to create it.
*Handsome handy husband and I set to work and when we finished we had this...
We love it! To see the step by step process and more pictures, shoot on over to The Hardscrabble Home. My favorite part of this project besides working with my guy was that it has some history to it. I love when houses have history and a story to tell. I'm glad that we could add another chapter to the story of our home.

New Life For A Dumpster Dwelling Desk
Oh, the joy of spying something awesome in, on, or near a dumpster. Dumpster = FREE. Free = good.
Serena at Thrift Diving was lucky enough to happen upon a throwaway desk in the dumpster one morning on her way to work. She knows that when you spot it, you better grab it. She lugged it home and was determined to make it beautiful.
Here's the before...
I have to admit, I might have passed that one on by.
Serena got busy and after some priming, patching and painting she created a hip and trendy desk that has many many more years of life left in it and a ton of beauty. Want to see the after?
Here she is...
Beautiful! Who'd a thunk it? To read more about this desk makeover and the ombre finish she applied using Annie Sloan chalk paint, head over to Thrift Diving.
Thanks Serena for letting us share your furniture flip!

From Graffiti To Grand - Dresser Makeover
You will never pass by another yard sale dresser again without remembering this graffiti covered dresser flip by Amanda at Reloved Rubbish .
Take a look at the dresser before...
Most of us with kids have experienced the random crayon drawing on the side of a piece of furniture. My own children always favored a red marker.
She and her guy set to work making this dresser beautiful once again. He sanded, and she applied a finish to it using a combination of Country Gray and Old White Chalk Paint. She then applied Annie Sloan clear wax.
Describing this now beautiful dresser as grand is even an understatement. Take a look at this fabulous furniture flip...
Don't you love it? That's definitely a color combination I want to try in the future.
For all of the details and more great pictures, visit Amanda at Reloved Rubbish.
Be warned though, it won't be a quick visit because her blog is loaded with beautiful projects. I'm heading back over there right now!

What Do You Mean Those Used To Be A Desk?
People A-maze me! The ideas they come up with leave me wishing I had come up with it first! Of course, with this fantastic furniture flip I'd have had to come across a desk like I've never seen before and well, I've never seen one quite like it.
Beth and Nick are a talented couple who can pretty much do anything. I came across their blog, Sawdust and Embryos when I was looking for backsplash ideas. You should see their talents in that area! You won't believe it. I fell in love with their blog.
Today I want to share with you a furniture flip they did together.
Beth's cousin had given her an old desk complete with a bunch of cubbies, some great trim work and fantastic legs.
Beth had considered saving it for her young daughters to use one day when awesomeness struck in the form of a really creative way to repurpose it. You won't believe it.
She had her Triple H (again, handsome handy husband) set to work taking it apart and turning it into:
See!! I told you! Amazing! Now she had two bedside tables for their master bedroom.
For the story and step by step of this furniture flip, check them out at Sawdust and Embryos . While you are there, look at their backsplashes! Again, amazing.
I have a sight unseen desk to pick up tomorrow for a furniture flip. Dare I hope it looks like this one?
Thanks Beth & Nick for letting us feature your flip!

Look What Her Husband Dragged In!
I thought I lucked out last week when I got a tip about a dumpster full of furniture free for the picking! Well, I'd say Sherry at Pondered.Primed.Perfected is the BIG WINNER with her curbside find that her own Triple H (handsome handy husband for those who don't know yet) came across and brought home for her. What a guy! He found an entire dining room set! Table & chairs! (Hey, my husband: Look at what her husband found. Please take note!)
It looked like this upon it's arrival.
Together as a team, they set about making it over and turning it into this:
Gorgeous! She could have stopped right there, but Sherry, like a lot of us, likes to change things up a bit. She whipped up some slipcovers and gave it an entirely different look again. Check it out...
IT WAS FREE!?! Can you imagine that? What an absolutely stunning furniture flip! Check out all of the details from start to finish from Sherry herself at Pondered.Primed.Perfected.
Thanks Sherry for letting us feature your furniture flip!

Welcome To Furniture Flippin'!
I am so glad you found us! You must either be a furniture flipper yourself or a fan of furniture flippin'. Do you see a piece of old worn furniture and think how fantastic it could look if only...? Me, too!
I come by this trait naturally. It is in my blood. My grandmother loved furniture re-dos. So does my mom and I recall my sisters both doing one or two makeovers over the years, too. Grandma Lucy went thru a phase where she painted things black and would affix an Early American Eagle decal on it.
I'm currently collaborating with my husband on a few furniture re-dos and other projects at
www.thehardscrabblehome.com
This Furniture Flippin' blog isn't about us though. It is about all of our Furniture Flippin' Friends who put their passion into giving new life to old pieces. There are some amazing makeovers out there and we love to follow them and look forward to featuring them.
If you have a Furniture Flip you'd like to submit please email it to us at furnitureflippin@yahoo.com
Send us the link if you have a blog or website, plus any pictures and other info on your Furniture Flip. We'd love to feature you! You don't have to have a blog or website to be featured, your photos and story are enough, too.
While you are here, be sure to subscribe!
On a final note, I chose this day to open this blog so that's it's birthday would be the same as what would have been my dad's 73rd birthday. Happy Birthday Dad and Happy Birthday Furniture Flippin'!
Stay tuned...our very FIRST Furniture Flip is coming up!
