Music Makes Everything Better...

Few would argue against the title of today's blog post.  Take today's featured flip.  This chest of drawers was bought at a thrift store by the son of Linda from EEK to Chic.  He had planned to redo it himself but it languished at his place for months before his mom finally got her hands on it.

She had been eyeing it awhile and knew exactly what she wanted to do.  It was of good construction with dovetailed drawers.

She reached into her stash of paint and gave it a good base coat of latex satin paint in a shade of red.  Then using the poster she planned to affix to it as her inspiration, she pulled colors from it and dry brushed them over the red until she achieved the look she wanted.  Once the painting was complete, Linda applied a black glaze over it to tone it down a bit.  She aged the poster she was using and decoupaged it to the front of the chest.  She finished this piece by spraying it with polyurethane.

How did it all turn out?  Well, check it out...

Isn't that totally awesome!?!  I LOVE it!  I think it's cool how the drawer pulls don't detract from the poster.  They kind of just blend right into the guitar.  That makes me want to scour every poster shop I can, so I can make one like this.  Fantastic job Linda!

EEK to Chic is based in Chesapeake, Virginia.  You can find their items at 3 Little Blackbirds.  That's where you will find today's flip.  Yes, it could be YOURS.  Act fast before someone else buys it up.  Follow along with Linda and EEK to Chic on their Facebook page.  Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Linda for sharing your magnificent furniture flip!

The rest of you...what are you waiting for?  Get your flip in.  I don't plan too far ahead and usually just reach into my folder of furniture flips, select one and run with it.  So, even I don't know who will be our feature tomorrow.  It could be you.  Email me your before/after pictures and all of the info to furnitureflippin@yahoo.com .

Keep on flippin'!

  1. Wonderful! It's amazing how a dark stain will knock down a bright color. And the poster idea is very ingenious.

  2. I realy like your blog and visit every day to see what you are posting about. I think the chest turned awsome as well. I didn't even notice the pulls until you said something about them. Like the poster on the front also.

  3. Wow! I love that. Some of the decoupaged stuff I've seen looks too, well, decoupaged, but this looks beautiful. Almost like it was painted on. And you're right about the pulls....you have to go looking for them to see them. Great job Linda!
