This Is For You People Who Only Look At The Before & After Pics...

THERE'S NO BEFORE PIC TODAY!!  Now, you HAVE to read!  Actually, you are being forced to read by ME and by our furniture flipper Kim of Tattered Twig Designs.  Our little Kimmie forgot to take a before picture BEFORE she created today's awesome furniture flip.  Shame, shame, shame on you Kim!  So, in place of a before picture I shall force you to view a picture from our RV trip last summer.  A two hour slide show presentation shall follow unless you leave a comment today.  I have no problem strong arming you.

On to the flip!  Kim was given a cabinet by her friend and she was given creative license to do whatever her heart desired to it.  Kim has some really cool old signs hanging in her kitchen and as she was carting in the cabinet, inspiration struck.  She knew immediately what she was going to do.  The cabinet didn't need anything done to the base of it.  It already possessed a nice stained finish.  Kim set to work recreating some of the old signs...
< < < That is a DURING picture.

Oh, the floor in the above pic is a rug.  I knew you'd be wondering if it was a cool wood floor so I asked her for you.  It's a rug.  Now, Kim is going to take that idea and run with it.  If she does, remember it was my question which led to the suggestion which led to the idea of it being created for real.  So, MY IDEA.  I call credit.

Kim used a combination of methods to paint her pseu-pseudo signs.  She did it all by herself with no help at all from Phil Collins.  (I know that's not how the song title is spelled.)  For some of them she printed an image, traced it using carbon paper and then painted.   For the larger ones, she used a stencil for the letters and her handy ruler to make the borders, etc.

I remember once when I was a little girl I was out in the car with my mom.  We passed a Shell gas station but the neon S was out so it read H-E-Double Hockey Sticks.  I pointed at it and asked my mom if that was a bad word.  She said it was and told me not to say it.  I didn't say it.  I instead turned to my little brother and whispered it to him.  He couldn't read yet.  (Don't tell my mom.)

I don't have a funny story about a Viking.  Sorry.  That's snuff out of me anyway.

Just kidding.  You have to keep reading.  No skipping ahead slacker.  Make your first grade teacher proud.  READ...

Kim continued painting and when she was all finished the formerly plain Jane cabinet had turned into something that commands attention.  It should be plastered on the side of a building or a billboard.

Check it out...

Don't you love it?  You can find Tattered Twig Designs at Ben's Antiques in Douglasville, Georgia

If a trip to Georgia isn't on your agenda, then you can check out Kim's work on her Tattered Twig Designs Facebook page.  Get on over there and let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Kim for sharing your signsational furniture flip!  That better be the last time I have to humiliate you for not taking a before picture.

The rest of you.  Slideshow starts at 5pm!

    1. Kim aka Katie Couric is busted! She skimmed the reading part! lol For some of them she printed an image, traced it using carbon paper and then painted. For the larger ones, she used a stencil for the letters and her handy ruler to make the borders, etc. :-)

  7. I'm thrilled to see that the need to paint the cabinet to maintain the current fad was avoided! Wonderful signs. (If you want more inspiration along that line, just frequent your local Cracker Barrel Old Country Store and take pictures. [this is not a paid ad. ;-)]
    Good work!

    1. And order that apple dessert with the vanilla bean ice cream and the streusal topping. The one that's big enough for two to share. Who we kidding? If I'm ordering that, I'm not sharing!
