Look What You Missed Out On...

Hey, no-show!  Yes, I'm talking to you.  You failed to show up to pick up this dresser when the woman selling it was only asking $10.00 for it.  Do you know what an inconvenience it is to everyone when you commit to being somewhere and then fail to show?  Well, today you are going to see what you missed out on and it serves you right.

As it turns out, when you failed to show up to stake claim to this piece another woman was there honoring her commitment.  She showed up with the intention of purchasing two other pieces but quickly saw the potential in this.  That woman is Tracye from Truly Timeless Treasures.  Tracye and her husband loaded it up and took it home.  Tracye was so excited to start work on this one that the other two items were pushed to the wayside for awhile longer.

Tracye started peeling veneer, with the idea that she would paint the whole thing white with lots of distressing and a heavy glaze to hide all of the defects.  However, once all of the veneer was off and it had been sanded, Tracye changed her plans.  She applied Minwax Dark Walnut stain.  She wanted to keep that vintage, hand rubbed feel, so she applied four coats of Minwax Wipe-On Poly in a satin finish.

For the body of the dresser, Tracye mixed up her own chalk paint using the color Clear Pond by Behr.  After painting, she lightly distressed it.  Tracye says she doesn't  like to send her pieces out into the world with only a couple of coats of wax to protect them, so she applied an Acrylic Faux Protector in a matte finish.  The hardware was painted with the same color as the body of the dresser and sealed the same way.

The drawers were lined with a gorgeous vintage sheet music fabric that has the same blue and brown. The fabric was decoupaged in place with Mod Podge in a matte finish.  What a nice touch that is!  I love that!

So, put them all together and what do you have?  You end up with this gorgeous chest of drawers that is worth so much more than $10 she paid for it.

Check it out...

Ha!  Take that no-show person!  I bet you are feeling really bad about not appearing that day.  What a truly remarkable transformation!  Well done Tracye, well done!

You can find Tracye on her Truly Timeless Treasures Facebook page.  There you can see more examples of her work.  She is based in Missouri, which just so happens to be the "Show Me" state!  How about that!  She certainly showed us today.  Head on over there and let Tracye know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

Thanks so much Tracye for sharing your fabulous furniture flip!

One more flip tomorrow and this week will be closed.  Have you submitted your furniture flip yet dear readers?  I'm also ALWAYS looking for "What Would You Do?" photos.  Email either or to me at furnitureflippin@yahoo.com .

See you tomorrow!
