Their Family Increase(d) When She Bought A Two-Piece...

All of you wonderful furniture flippers are torturing me with your hutch and buffet makeovers lately.  You are a constant reminder that my own hutch and buffet are not yet done.  What's the saying?  The cobbler's children have no shoes?  Now, I really have to get on the  move and get ours finished.  Here's one more incentive for me to get with the flow and it's all thanks to Glo.  You've met Glo of Patina Pizazz before.  I introduced you to her back at the end of May when some very glamorous tables of hers were featured.  Let's see what Glo has been up to lately. 

Glo wrote to me recently, "Hutches are hot right now (what’s up with that) so of course I had to get one.  I bought this two piece number from Jennie, my Annie Sloan stockist (whom I love by the way) in Hillsboro, Oregon from B Designs Home Décor.   She sold it to me AS IS for $20 bucks.  YAH, you heard me $20 bucks.  It had missing glass, missing hardware and of course missing veneer, but most of all it was missing some GLO-Glam."

Glo set to work on her.  Cleaning the hutch, removing some of the veneer in spots so she didn’t have to wood fill.  She then painted it Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and Ochre.  She found hardware that would work with the few pieces that came with the hutch.   
  She added more pizazz to it with the addition of black decals.  At that point Glo was still thinking she was going to sell the hutch and while the black accents would go with her decor, she thought a potential buyer might want the option of removing them.  Thus, she used decals and chose not to stencil.  The decals stay where you put them and are easily removed if you wish.  

Glo thinks that deep in her heart she knew that this two piece number was destined to stay with her and her handsome handy husband.  (She lovingly refers to him as her "sexy man slave" and says he was instrumental in moving this heavy sucker around and helping her with the hardware.)  They took a family vote and decided NOT to sell.  Take a look at it and you'll clearly understand their unwillingness to let her go...

THAT is gorgeous.  I love it.  Now, it's making me rethink my entire makeover of my hutch!!  Thanks a lot Glo!  

Glo says while she now has her Christmas collection of trees and things displayed in the hutch, she also loves to display fancy shoes in these cabinets.  She admits that she has one already for that purpose but a girl can't have enough shoes so this baby may be making a move from the dining room to the bedroom.    

Glo writes, "There are so many uses for hutches these days so get creative.  They’re not just for dining rooms and your grandmother’s china any more."  I agree!
