1928 was the last boom year of the Roaring Twenties before the crash of 1929 for most of the world. Some of the most important events of 1928 were the discovery of penicillin, the Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland and the Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, the sale of the first television and the election of Herbert Hoover.

I painted a bit of pearl ivory paint over each of them and then distressed and aged, so it does look like an authentically old piece.

It's super sturdy and may just last another 85 years. What are the events of 2013 that will be remembered as we look back? Surely they will look back in horror at this year and think twerking is as awful as I do now. ~ Kelli
~ Stephanie back again! Hehehehe..thank goodness for friends who come to my aid when I'm just a tad bit lax in my duties. Let's take a look at the amazing after of this cabinet.
That piece is gorgeous. You can see more pictures and read more details and comments by visiting Kelli's Pretty Painted Things & Other Things That Make Me Happy Facebook Page. Be prepared to stay awhile because her work is out of this world and she will inspire you.

Thanks Kelli for letting me steal from you twice in one month. If it wasn't for you both of those days we'd all be looking at a blank post for the day.
Okay dear readers, let's hear from you today. I like stuff to read, too! There's a comment section below. Let's hear some feedback. Also, if you have a furniture flip you'd like to share, please email me.

That is SO soft and pretty. Nice work Kelli! One can only hope with time we forget what 'twerking' was all about. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI would never have it expected it could look this pretty again! Great job Kelli!

ReplyDeletegAWWgeous piece! LOVE IT! B-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I have an antique bed that I turned into a bench, that I've been working on for awhile now. Same problem. Veneer that damaged the wood when it was removed. I keep pulling it out, working on it, getting frustrated and then put it in "time out" under a drop cloth for another few weeks. I don't know why I didn't think of it before reading this but I am totally going to pull out some plaster and make an applique. And I just picked up some champagne pearl paint. That is happening. Thanks for the inspiration.
