Her Mix-A-Lot

Who is ready to begin another week of Furniture Flippin'?  I am!  Today we will be heading to the small village of Mount Pleasant in south-western Ontario and checking in with Debbie of Dewdrop Gables.

Recently Debbie  had this chest of drawers waiting to be made over.  Her daughter Tanya saw it and knew it was just the piece she wanted for her home.  Tanya requested this chest of drawers be dark brown and since Annie Sloan doesn't make that color, Debbie decided to mix it up herself and turned to Annie Sloan's book, "Color Recipes for Painted Furniture".

She mixed a little bit of this with a little bit of that until she had a close color match.  (You can see the steps on Dewdrop Gables blog.)  However, it still wasn't quite the color she wanted.  Debbie forged ahead.  She secured stencils of her grandsons initials to the front of each drawer and then applied Annie Sloan Dark Wax.  That made the difference.  The wax gave it the dark brown look her daughter was wanting.  It looks like wood but it isn't wood.

Let's check out the after picture...

What a unique chest of drawers!  It is now the perfect place for her grandsons to stash their stuff.

You can find Debbie and Dewdrop Gables at the One-Of-A-Kind Antique Mall in Woodstock Ontario.  She is in booth 824.  You can follow along with the different items she creates on her blog and you can find her on Dewdrop Gables Facebook page.  Be sure and stop by for a visit.  Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.  Debbie and her Dewdrop Gables page are in Facebook lockdown for a few more days...I know what THAT is like.  Go help her pass the time until she's sprung from there.  My term seemed like it would never end.  Grrrr Facebook.

Thanks so much Debbie for sharing your wonderful furniture flip.

If you have a furniture makeover you'd like to share, be sure and email me at furnitureflippin@gmail.com .  I require before/after pictures and all of the details you can possibly send.
