Mother & Daughter To The Rescue!

Let me introduce you today to the dynamic mother-daughter duo of Amanda and Karla otherwise known as Vintage Hip Decor.   Color, interior design and "treasure" hunting is their passion.

They bought this table from a couple in their town that has a “permanent” garage sale in their back barn. They often go to auctions, so have loads of stuff to pick through.  Chairs didn't come with it, but Karla & Amanda are always collecting chairs as they go along and decided to go with the idea of a mismatched set.

Here's what they started with...

They sanded the top of the table until there was no more visible signs of marks and damage to it.  Then stained it with a couple of layers of Early American Wood Stain and sealed it with Polycrylic. The legs and the sides of the table were painted with Old White Chalk Paint, distressed and waxed with clear wax.

The chairs they painted in a flat latex paint.  One of those “oops” cans you find at the hardware stores, so they don’t know the name of the color but you can see that it’s a shade of lime green/yellow.  The chairs were then distressed, waxed and the chair with the upholstered seat was recovered.

Let me tell you!  This turned out GORGEOUS!  Karla & Amanda said it is their favorite and easiest flip to date.  Ready for the reveal?

See!  I love them!  Somebody else did, too, because it sold really quickly.

To see more of Karla and Amanda's work, visit their Vintage Hip Decor Blog.  For you Facebook readers, you can check them out as well on their Vintage Hip Decor Facebook page.  Let them know you saw them on Furniture Flippin'.  These ladies are originally from South Africa and have been living in the USA since June of 1998.  Their first language is Afrikaans, so you might see comments from some of their friends and family back home, in their native language.  Karla & Amanda said feel free to ask for a translation on any of the comments you may not understand.  Finally, if you are interested in any of the work they do for your own home, you can also find them at their Vintage Hip Decor Etsy Store.

Thanks so much Karla & Amanda for sharing your beautiful furniture flip!
