You dresser should be so thankful that you fell into the hands of Carlee of The Decorating Diva because not only can she change YOUR destiny, she also just recently completed a cool flip of her own garage. That so beats my garage!! Look at that! Color me green because I'm completely jealous. Carlee gives props to her wonderful husband, sweet dad & awesome brother for that makeover. Kudos guys!
Carlee used a liquid stripper on this dresser and removed 4 different layers of paint.
Then she sanded, stained and sealed the top.
For the body of the dresser, Carlee painted it a beautiful black. Did she stop there? Heck no! Look at that garage photo again! Does that look like a woman who would be content to stop there? No, it does not.
She had her "Math Whiz" hubby make her a harlequin stencil out of poster board. That, and some double sided tape led to some gorgeous stenciling on the drawers.
When all was said and done you, formerly green and white dresser, became this vision of loveliness...
Now, aren't you glad you live in Texas and not Illinois and that Carlee took you in and not Stephanie? You are one lucky dresser.
Three times a year The Decorating Diva hosts Junk-a-Palooza. It has turned into a huge event and the last one drew over 400 people to her place. You can find Carlee and more examples of her work on The Decorating Diva's Facebook page. Get on over there and let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.

DeleteGreat save! I was hoping to see inside the garage...I'm nosy.
ReplyDeleteI know! Me, too Carol! :-)
DeleteLove it! So much talent out there, it makes me jealous. Thanks for sharing this beautiful piece.
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad I'm not alone! lol
DeleteI see a trend back toward stained wood. I, of course, knew it would come. For decades now I have been one step ahead of the decorating curve. lol
ReplyDeleteNotice this dresser. Once, it was the height of decorating fasion! Now it's once-cherished beauty is maligned... Fickle owners, take pity on your finds, and offer affirmation and help in restoring not only the beauty of days past, but the heart and soul of such a lovely piece!
Nice save!
I took a dresser to her -- all the way from Austin -- and she gave it a whole new life! I love her work. The dresser was a tired old piece, dark wood veneer, boring but solid. I told her to "jazz it up" and she did! It's now a lovely shade of red!
