Lori instead chose to take a break by doing MORE painting. This time she tackled one of two wardrobes she had purchased very cheaply at a local yard sale. Here's the one she summoned forward...
Now answer me this. Why, oh why, can't I find stuff like that?? Why, oh why, do the local yard sales and Craigslist in my area not offer ANYTHING like this?? Sigh...big sigh.
Look at the curves and details on that piece. The dainty feet. What an awesome piece of furniture. It's about to get even better.
Lori says that typically she would strip off all of the old paint. In this case, it wasn't peeling so she decided to keep the age and story behind it and she skipped the stripping. She base-coated it in Maison Blanche Jolie Blonde and then applied Benjamin
Moore Spring Sky. She highlighted the carvings and trim in Maison Blanche Magnolia. She then clear waxed the whole piece. Lastly she applied some Fiddes Jacobean
on all of the details and did some shadowing to keep with the age of the
piece.
She's ready for her close-up now! Check her out...
Pretty spectacular! Well, there's more to this beautiful makeover but for those details you need to head on over to Lori's blog Vintage Charm Restored . The inside of this wardrobe received an update, too! Take a cup of coffee with you when you go, because it is a wonderful blog and there is so much there to read and see. I bet you'll become a subscriber, that is, if you aren't already.
Lori is also a Maison Blanche distributor. For our Facebook friends, you can visit with Lori on her Vintage Charm Restored Facebook page. Let her know you saw her on Furniture Flippin'.
